Custom Vintage Feed Sacks Quilt

It’s hard for me to imagine people making underwear out of flour and sugar sacks but it’s not that much of a stretch. That was one of a number of ways people repurposed items during the US Depression and World War II.

This custom vintage feed sacks quilt features an interesting variety of patterns on the feed sack cloth. Manufacturers picked up on the repurposing trend and started to add interesting designs which became everything from curtains to underwear.

Fun to look at the fabrics that were used for feed sacks. (Charlotte Ekker Wiggins photo)

This custom 85x80-inch feed sacks quilt is finished with machine quilting. Machine quilting is sturdier than hand quilting, and less expensive.

The back of the polyfill custom quilt is a solid beige cotton, making this quilt reversible.

There’s a nice combination of old and new with this new, one of a kind wedding quilt.
