Hi, I'm Charlotte, a beekeeper, author, master gardener Emeritus and founder of Bluebird Gardens. Ever since starting my company in 1998, we have literally made thousands of quilts and custom gifts. From finishing a repurposed t-shirt art quilt now hanging in a Belgium museum to a gift pillow a 9-year old girl wanted to make out of her first nine-patch quilt block, it's been an honor to help people make their special gift ideas come true.

Making a gift is an art. It takes knowing the recipient, matching up a product design and periodically sprinkling a dash of impishness. My siblings and I perfected that process as we were growing up, especially the last part. The discussions, collusion, giggling and anticipation return with every project.

The projects that are the hardest to discuss are those from clothing from loved ones who are no longer with us. The conversations at first are more a tribute to the loved ones, then transition into shaping the gift. By the time the gift is finished, I feel like I know the person who wore those clothes and am so honored their family entrusted us with capturing their spirit.
